'Laapataa Ladies', at the beginning of the film itself, the song "Beda Paar" beautifully sung by Sona Mohapatra, set the tone of the film. Film is directed by Kiran Rao, her second directorial film after 'Dhobi Ghat', conveys sensitive messages to empower women, especially in deep rural areas, by establishing many funny incidents and remarkably good written dialogues. Many new actors, though not so new when it comes to their struggles to date, like Sparsh Shrivastava (fame from the 'Jamtara' web series on Netflix), Pratibha Ranta (from the TV show 'Quarban Hua' from Zee5), Nitanshi Goel (a teen actor in small roles in multiple films and Instagram influencer with 10.2M+ followers), and Satendra Soni as 'Chotu', along with many other characters from the film, have been well-established and given the opportunity to perform, and they all did a flawless and fantastic job. Veterans like Chhaya Kadam, Ravi Kishan, or even Geeta Aggarwal Sharma have also done their jobs really well.
Other departments of the film, like direction, art direction, camera work, sound, lighting, costumes, makeup, locations, DI coloring, background score and, most importantly, music and songs by Ram Sampath (known for many hits in bollywood in the past like Delhi Belly, Talaash etc.), then the story, the screenplay, and the killer dialogues written by Biplab Goswami, Sneha Desai and Divyanidhi Sharma, every aspect of the film has been executed really really well. Dheeme Dheem song grow on you as film concludes, sung by a great singer Shreya Ghoshal and written by renowned lyricist Swanand Kirkire. Of course, if we want to be overly critical, we might find some mistakes too, but really? When the story is so beautifully narrated, no one would focus on those, right?
Please watch this film, currently running in theaters, and make it a big success. We need such cinema, and we all love it!
